Pink Elephant:Hwang Xin x inooknit
Sophomore year in college, I was ill and had lost happiness then.
One night, a pink elephant came to my dream. The pink elephant lit up the stars and I felt the warmth right away. Magically, I started recovering from my illness that night and I truly believe that it was my guardian angel.
I hope that my artwork can be your guardian angel through the colors and creations, I want to brighten up your world.
Q: Please tell us about yourself.
Hello everybody, my name is Hwang Xin, and my friends call me the Elephant Fairy🐘🧚♀️. I’m a 23 years old artist, and I am a Sagittarius. If I were to describe my personality, I would say that I’m sentimental, I cry a lot and I’m a 99% idealist.
Q: Red plays a big part of your outfits and creations, what do you love about this color?
Red brings me so much energy and joy!
Q: In your artworks, there are often large areas of background colors decorated with flowers, people, and animals. I can’t help but think of Lake Titicaca in Peru and the Mexican female painter Frida Kahlo. What message are you trying to convey or receive via your creation?
I deeply believe in the nature of spirit; every substance, plants, animals, and humans are all divine. I hope that from depicting love and memories on my artwork, I can also be closer to nature, wilderness, and authentic power. To make people feel a sense of spirituality and femininity.
Q: The color red is just like your signature color, how does it make you feel?
To me, red represents loneliness as well as passion. I think that these two words really resonate with me. Also, I love that red actually contains a little bit of orange-yellow, and people often associate this quality with the sun.
Q: Tell us about the “reddest” romantic experience you’ve had?
D: What are you thinking about?
Hwang Xin: I was thinking, for what, would I travel 10,012 kilometers just to obtain? Would the stars be like popping candy if I put them in my pocket? What does a cake that’s made of tears taste like? How would a person kiss another’s eye?
D: How about I publish a “I wonder…” book in both Mandarin and French. I could listen to you talk about all these questions all day.
Being apart from each other in a distance of 10,012 kilometers, and 7 hours time difference; we spoke and wrote letters in both Mandarin and French sharing about books, exhibitions, and life.
Q: Lastly, what would your outfit and the menu be for a “Red Picnic?”
I would wear the knitted vest that I designed with a red dress patched up with images like candles, cakes, and elephant angels 🐘🧚♀️.
Menu:
Sunbird Jelly Salad
Red Violin Sandwitch
Cherry Princess’s Conchiglie Garden
Elephant Angel Rice Pudding
Ruby Magic Quiche
